About Grove
Columbus Grove was laid out by Captain Frederick Fruchey in 1842. We have approximately 2,200 residents, with women outnumbering the men. The work force in the area is an eager group of craftsman. They possess a dedicated work ethic passed down through the generations. We are the second largest town in Putnam County. We are located in the South Eastern corner of Pleasant Township on the Southern edge of the County. Placing us, conveniently and centrally located, to several major highways.
1. State Routes 65 and 12 pass through town.
2. Interstate 75 is about 12 minutes to the East.
3. U.S. 30 is about 6 minutes to the South.
We are about 15 minutes from Lima, about 30 minutes from Findlay and about 1 hour from Toledo.
Columbus Grove has 2 Industrial Parks. Both are located on St. Rt. 65, one being North of town the other being South of town. The South Side Industrial Park is already occupied by several businesses, with room for others. The North Side Industrial Park is the site of an automotive supplier who broke ground for a 150,000 square foot stamping plant in 2004.
Almost everything you need is available in Columbus Grove and sold by a diverse assortment of businesses. There are over 100 businesses offering their services, with a willingness to work together for the betterment of the community. There is a Library, Churches, Schools, Post Office, Physician, Dentist, Lawyer, Market, Coffee Shop, and Hardware, just to name a few, along with Police, Fire, and EMS protection.
Columbus Grove offers both a Public and a Catholic school. There is also an abundance of opportunity for higher education available. The University of Bluffton is located about 10 minutes to the east. The University of Findlay is about 30 minutes to the northeast. Ohio Northern University is located 30 minutes southeast in Ada. The Lima Campus of the Ohio State University is about 15 minutes to the South. The University of North Western Ohio is also in Lima. The Ohio State Beauty Academy, again in Lima, is about 15 minutes away. Located to the North of us is The Bowling Green State University and The University of Toledo.
High school sports are a standing room only venue. There is football, volleyball, golf, cross country, basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, track & field, softball, and baseball. Summer youth sports include soccer, baseball, and football. CYO sports include volleyball and basketball. Putnam County YMCA basketball is extremely popular with the young ones.
